Carbon-info.org's green policy
Carbon-info.org recognises that our work may have a direct or indirect effect on the local, regional and global environment. We are committed to reducing any harmful effects on the environment and promoting the understanding of sustainability in its broadest context.
This Green Policy outlines what Carbon-info.org is doing right now to ensure that all our business activities are sustainable.
Waste Reduction
Our office collects and recycle metal (drink cans), glass (bottles etc.), paper (newspapers, envelopes and general paper) and batteries.
We also have a Green Purchase policy, which states that we as an organisation should strive to purchase products, 2nd hand or recycled rather than buy new, that have minimal packaging and where the packaging and product itself should be recyclable.
We aim to reduce waste and paper consumption by utilising the internet and email to communicate with our customers, as well as providing products and services that can be supplied through the internet or requires minimal packaging if delivered by post.
Transport
We aim to minimise our carbon dioxide emissions generated from our business transport activities by utilising public transport when possible or communicating by email, phone or similar to avoid travelling at all.
All local transport is done by bicycle only.
Energy and Water Saving
Our office has low-energy light bulbs installed throughout and all office equipment is turned off at the end of each day rather than wasting energy on standby mode.
We only utilise flat screen monitors because these consume a lot less electric compared to a conventional monitor.
While tea making is an 'important" activity in the office, we recognise that we can save both water and electricity by only boiling the water required each time.
Hygiene, Health & Safety
Our office has a 'no smoking' policy.
We follow best practice in relation to the use of computer equipment , and actively encourage individuals to take their breaks away from their desk - preferably outside in our garden.
