More than a million different compounds containing carbon is known to man - diamonds, butane gas and many more.

All living matter on earth - whether plant, animal or human - are made up of carbon compounds.

1) Carbon-what is it?
Coal contains 90% Carbon
When burning something that contains carbon - coal, wood, oil and petrol - the carbon combines with oxygen (O) from the air and creates carbon dioxide (CO2), which is released into the atmosphere.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is often refered to as a 'Greenhouse Gas' and the main contributer to global warming and climate change.
