The impact on the natural carbon-cycle has been more devastating then any other human activity in the last two centuries. The requirement for energy to run our industries and provide the comfort and ease of life we all have become dependent on, has lead to a sharp increase in the burning of fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal).
The result is a huge increase in CO2 being released, which is disturbing the natural balance of the earth's atmosphere, and causing global warming and climate change.
