UK's Green Movement
Some profit orientated environment groups claim that they can off-set carbon emissions. This is done by purchasing trees from them, which will absorb the CO2 produced by flying to New York, travelling to work and so on. Hence, by purchasing enough trees it is possible for an individual to live a completely carbon-neutral existence.

But there is a catch. The organisations in question do not actually plant any trees themselves. This is done through planting partners. Critics have suggested that no additional trees are being planted, making the 'carbon neutral' claim little more than marketing.

In recent years, fuelled by the growing evidence of global warming and rising CO2 levels, the number of environment groups have increased significantly. Many of these have helped raise awareness of the problems facing the world.
The long-term impact
There is a real danger that the public will stop financial support of climate environment groups, if the public's trust in the green sector is damaged.

It is also vital that the green movement is seen as being non-profitable and united in the fight against climate change, which currently is not the case.
