While the Kyoto protocol comes into effect and it is unclear how those countries that have signed up to the protocol will achieve their emission targets by 2012, work this month gets underway on a new agreement.

On the 29th November 2005, UN will launch a climate change conference. The conference is hosted by Montreal and will be attended by those who have already signed up to Kyoto and India, China and USA as well.
The aim is to continue the dialog that was started at the G8 summit at Glenneagles this year, and start to explore how the nations of the world can work together beyond Kyoto and the 2012 deadline, when the existing agreement expires.
