- Ethical Investments
There are four main ethical banks. The Co-operative bank is the largest in the UK. The Co-operative bank operates on the internet though its 'smile' subsidiary, and smile is the only operator that apply an ethical criteria to all its activities.

The other operators are Triodos Bank, which only support projects with a positive impact on the community and environment; Shared Interest, a co-operative lending society, and the Ecology Building Society, which provide mortgages for properties and projects that benefit the environment.
