Trying hard to promote renewable energy, the UK Government has introduced a new grant schema aimed at domestic and small businesses.

A total of £65m has been allocated under a new grants schema - The Low Carbon Buildings Programme - managed by the Energy Saving Trust.

Grants are available from 24th April 2006.

All grants are conditional upon the applicant already having energy efficient measures such as loft and cavity wall insulation installed.

Grants will be available for a range of renewable technologies such as:
1) Solar hot water
2) solar electric
3) wind and water turbines
4) Ground and air source heat pumps
5) Wood and other biomass heating

Grants range from £400 for solar thermal, up to £3000 per KWp for solar electricity.
