July 2006 sets two new heat records
It is official. July 2006 broke two UK heat records since the Met Office started keeping records in 1914.

The average night and day temperature in the UK in July 2006 was 17.8C (64.04F), which was 0.5C warmer than in August 1995, the year which held the previous record.

The summer temperature in Wisley, Surrey reached 36.5C (97.7F), which smashed the all-time record British temperature for the month.

"But I fear that this is a sign of things to come. High summer temperatures and lack of rain signals that we all need to take note and do as much as we can to save energy and reduce our carbon emissions.
