Public confused about global warming
Dr. David Suzuki, founder of the David Suzuki foundation, recently gathered a focus group to discuss global warming and to see where people are at in their understanding of the problem.

Dr. Suzuki afterwards released a statement saying that "Simply put, most people don't have a clue. This is really quite remarkable. I would have thought that lack of understanding of the issue would have been commonplace five or six years ago, but with global warming being in newspapers on practically a daily basis this spring, on the front cover of magazines, surely people would get it by now."

Dr. Suzuki summarised the situation by pointing out that "If people don't get it, then they don't really care, so politicians and CEOs don't really care, and status quo rules the day."

Carbon-info.org's Chairman Flemming Bermann commented that this was "not a surprising outcome." Mr. Bermann continued by calling on the UK Government to undertake a sustained public information campaign on the science behind global warming and what personal choice individuals can make to help reduce their own carbon dioxide emissions, the main greenhouse gas causing rapid rising atmospheric temperatures.
