Seabirds are failing to breed.
Kittiwake
A report release in 2004 by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee has revealed that many Scottish colonies of Arctic Skura, Arctic Tern, Guillemot, Kittiwake and Razorbill failed to raise a significant number of young.

The failure of seabirds to breed on the coast of Scotland and England could spell disaster for the spices involved, if they continue to be unable to produce sufficient young birds to secure the next generation of Seabirds.
What is happening?
Lack of food. The seabirds depend on sandeel, which in 2004 did not appear at the time they raised their chicks.

The sandeel feed on plankton, which thrives in cold water. As the oceans are heating up, it is suggested that the plankton and sand eel is being pushed further north in order to survive, leaving behind colonies of starving seabirds unable to breed.
What is the cause?
Razorbill
