Romney Marshes wind farm gets go-ahead
Romney Marshes in Kent will be home to a new wind farm. Npower have got the go-ahead to build 26 turbines on the site, which will be able to provide clean, renewable energy to 32,000 homes.

Some opposition to Romsey Marshes being selected for the new wind farm came from local environmentalists. They were in particularly concerned about the natural beauty of the site being spoiled and that it would threaten certain bird species.
Carbon-info.org's chairman Mr. Bermann said: "We congratulate Npower Renewables on the planning approval. We need to see more investment in renewable energy, so this is indeed good news. New wind farms are a key component in the fight against global warming generally, and it will also help the UK to achieve its Kyoto target."
