Commission for Sustainable Development releases damaging report on Government's progress.
The Government's own watchdog - the Commission on Sustainable Development - has released its annual report, which makes embarrassing reading for Prime Minister Tony Blair. The report uses a system of traffic signal colour-coding to judge the Government's success of which there is very few, as the government failed to get a single 'green' light on any of its key targets.

CO2 Emissions:
UK CO2 emissions have increased by 9% since 1999, and the UK Government is not on target to reduce its own CO2 emissions.

Energy:
Domestic energy consumption has grown with 2% since 2000. The Government's CO2 emissions has grown with 8% since 2000.
Waste:
The UK produces 375 million tons of waste each year. Over 80% of all Government departments failed to meet any targets on sustainable recycling.
Social Impact:
By 31st March 2006, every government department must complete a Social Impact Strategy. So far not a single strategy has been published.
