Many environmental organisations have welcomed the film, as it clearly and objectively explains the science and causes of global warming, and the huge impact climate change will have on hundreds of millions of people in the US and the rest of the world.

The film has also helped minimise the impact of what many 'green' campaigners consider a misleading series of TV ads in the US media about the "the alleged global warming crisis" sponsored by The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), an influential right-wing lobby group financed by the oil company ExxonMobil.

It's "a deliberate effort to confuse and mislead the public about the global warming debate", said Curt Davis of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
