Energy researcher adds independent voice to Carbon-info.org
23rd November 2006

Carbon-info.org, a leading Hampshire based environment organisation and climate change lobby group, appoints Mr. Roy Tindle, a UK based energy researcher, as independent scientific advisor to its management team.

Mr. Tindle, an independent energy researcher, is an energy advisor to Compass, a Labour think tank, which influences and shapes Government policy on many areas relating to energy consumption and waste.

“We are delighted that we have the opportunity to work with Mr. Tindle,” said Carbon-info.org’s chairman Flemming Bermann. “He will add an independent voice to the team and help ensure that we get the message right on important issues such as energy waste and reduction.”

Domestic and commercial energy waste is widespread. Electric equipment from computers to DVD players, left on 24 hours a day, contribute directly to global warming though an ever growing demand for electricity, which is produced by burning increasing volumes of fossil fuel such as coal, oil and gas.

Mr. Tindle, who works closely with Lewisham and Greenwich council on a joint energy saving project said: “We don’t have to wait for major governmental policy changes to deal with climate change. Everyone can contribute by simply cutting out energy waste in our homes.”

Recent UK Government research shows that electrical appliances on standby alone pump more than one million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.
