Just a personal note
to congratulate the decision by the Co-Op Group to phase out inefficient
electrical goods and light bulbs, and to sell A-rated appliances
in its stores only.
A very this positive step I hope will
be copied by other major UK retailers, who claim to be 'green' by
heart but continue to promote and sell energy inefficient products
because they want their customers "to have a choice" and allow them
to go 'green' if they should so wish. (This is also what is know as
the voluntary approach to reducing carbon emissions, which the Government
so clearly has demonstrated does not work very well.)
If we are
serious about global warming and truly want to make a difference,
then decisions like the one made by the Co-Op Group will have to be
the norm and not the exception.
