OPEN LETTER

Tuesday, 29 April 2008

Dear Prime Minister Brown,

Watching the news last night, I was disgusted to see children in the third world eating food made from mud, a little butter and salt because their parents can not afford to buy them a portion of rice. Why? Because world food prices have gone through the roof due of the West's greed and need for bio-fuels.

While you, Prime Minister, may be happy to tell poor children to eat mud pies while we continue to live carbon intensive lives, I for one do not want to. Unfortunately, I have to participate in this immoral behaviour because the Government has forced me to utilise fuel mixed with 5% ethanol, which drives rainforest destruction, adds to global warming and kills third world children.

When will the Government start to do the morally right thing to combat global warming and stop failing in its responsibility dealing effectively with this global crises? Children in the third world should be allowed a change to survive instead of the Government’s misguided and decadent policy on ethanol.
