Dear Sir / Madam,

Your recent ruling with regard to the Government's Act on CO2 TV campaign is indeed disappointing.

To suggest that the advertisements went beyond mainstream scientific consensus in asserting that climate change would cause flooding and drought is an incorrect conclusion.

The IPCC, which is considered mainstream scientific opinion on the impact of global warming, has in their many reports clearly stated that global warming will lead to climate change, which in time will lead to increased risk of flooding and drought in some parts of the world.

This decision brings into question the ASA role in reviewing scientific information adverts. Is the ASA qualified to judge what is mainstream scientific consensus on a complicated topic like global warming? From the decision made on the Act on CO2 campaign, I think not.

Yours sincerely,
