Flemming BermannProud to take part

Dear Supporters and Visitors—

Carbon-info.org is proud to promote the STEP IT UP 2007 campaign in the UK.

What a really great idea to come out of the US, which many continue to associate with inactivity and denial on the ever increasing threat to the planet from global warming.

Are you able to organise an event - big or small - on the 14th April 2007 - the National Day of Climate Action and make a difference?

Do you have a really good idea on how to promote energy efficiency or raise awareness of climate change in your local community?

If so, join the STEP IT UP 2007 campaign and let us feature your event or activity on the site. Have fun and good luck!

Flemming Bermann - Chairman Carbon-info.org

Bill McKibbenA Letter From Bill McKibben

Dear Friends—

This is an invitation to help start a movement--to take one spring day and use it to reshape the future. Those of us who know that climate change is the greatest threat civilization now faces have science on our side; we have economists and policy specialists, courageous mayors and governors, engineers with cool new technology.

But we don't have a movement—the largest rally yet held in the U.S. about global warming drew a thousand people. If we're going to make the kind of change we need in the short time left us, we need something that looks like the civil rights movement, and we need it now. Changing light bulbs just isn't enough.

Bill McKibben - Founder of original STEP IT UP 2007 US Campaign

Carbon-info.org STEP IT UP in Winchester
Jan 22, 2007

A large part of the population continue to be unaware of global warming - what it is and the dire consequences for the planet, if we do not act quickly enough.

On April 14th Carbon-info.org will therefore be organising an information day on the high-street of Winchester in rural Hampshire between the hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Throughout the day we will distribute information packs and encourage people in the street to talk about climate change, ask questions and what they can do to help combat global warming under the old motto - "THINK GLOBAL - ACT LOCAL!" - now more relevant than ever before.

Further Hampshire events planned. Watch this space!

Farm Fresh Express - West Sussex Calling!
Feb 20, 2007

As its contribution to the National day of Climate Action Farm Fresh Express will launch its Neighbourhood Shopping Low Carbon Footprint Scheme on 14th April.

Any group of 5 or more homes from the same street or postcode can earn free deliveries for a year.

As a company that picks up and delivers local food to local homes Farm Fresh Express already has a very low mileage-to-delivery count, but we want to make it lower." says Graham Rawlinson, a director of the company.

"We can do this by ensuring that where we drop one delivery we also have others. As we specialise in local food and offer everything from bread and milk to meat, vegetables and pantry items, people can carry out there regular shop with Farm Fresh Express and not have to drive here and there for other goods. This is all part of the Farm Fresh Express "I Love Local Food' campaign

The Local Food Company STEP IT UP by setting a new UK standard in ethical food shopping.
Apr 2, 2007

The Local Food Company, located in Modbury in Devon, has chosen the STEP IT UP 2007 campaign to launch its new standard in ethical food shopping.

The whole concept of The local Food Company has always been to reduce food miles and carbon emissions caused by the business.

Through an energy efficiency drive and careful offsetting of the remaining CO2 generated by their business, Dee and Simon have created the UK's first zero-carbon food company.

In addition to this they have worked hard to reduce the food miles of the produce they sell. In another UK first, they have decided to stop selling any produce that has been air freighted.

Petition: STOP the 'green' grant lottery now!
Apr 3, 2007

Carbon-info.org has been swamped by emails from angry home owners, who are frustrated by the nearly impossible task of obtaining a green grant under the Government's Low Carbon Building Scheme.

A gentleman from Somerset wrote to us and asked us to help "do something about it."

So that is exactly what we have decided to do!

On the 14th April Carbon-info.org will launch an on-line petition aimed at improving the Government's inadequate Low Carbon Buildings scheme, which is falling well short of what is required.
